This is a free "first chapter" to my latest novel, An Untitled Lady. It takes place the day before the novel starts, and gives Maddie's outlook on what is about to happen. An Untitled Lady starts with Nash's point of view.

I decided against starting the novel with this chapter because I think it is too romantic: The book itself is chiefly historical fiction, though it has very strong romantic elements. I didn't want readers to read this chapter, and expect that sort of story, and then be disappointed. But if you like more romance, and want to start the story with Maddie, dive in! "The Last Stage" will always be a free read.
